Dinesh D’Souza was sentenced on Tuesday to five years of probation, spending eight months of it in a community confinement center, after pleading guilty to a campaign finance law violation. Prosecutors were seeking a 10-16 month prison sentence in what may considered an unequal application of the law. Most often, violators of this type are simply fined.
But the conservative author and filmmaker has written a series of critical books and movies about Obama. Eric (why is this man still Attorney General) Holder has obviously taken note.
D’Souza was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Richard Berman in Manhattan – a Clinton appointee.
He was also given a $30,000 fine and ordered to do one day of community service a week during his probation.
